TV: Chefography
Posted in Uncategorized on March 25, 2007 by rantsofatwinkieFood Network has a new series called “Chefography” where they give the biographies of various TV chefs. They’ve been running a lot of them this entire weekend.
So far I’ve seen:
Bobby Flay (he’s married to that lady from Law and Order: SVU!)
Sandra Lee (got her start with infomercials and QVC!)
Nigella Lawson (amazing yet tragic life)
Giada DeLaurentiis (one lucky lady except for her brother dying)
I tried to watch the episode on Rachael Ray but I fell asleep. Afternoon nap! I’ll see if I can stay awake to watch it the next time it is on.
Mario Batali is up next. Should be interesting.
People: Bad habits
Posted in Uncategorized on March 24, 2007 by rantsofatwinkieI looove my brethren. Was perusing cnn.com today and came across an article about China and the 2008 Olympics. The issue at hand? The fact that the residents of Beijing continue to spit in public all over the place. I’m would not be surprised if all the rivers of China are powered by spit.
“With the 2008 Beijing Olympics less than 500 days away, officials say they are prepared to take harsh measures against people who spit in public if appeals do not work… hinted that fines might be involved.”
However, I would think it is safe to say that the majority of the spitters are part of the lower class and most likely can’t even afford to go to the Olympics, so why should they give a hoot?
Ad: JC Penny and catchy tune
Posted in Uncategorized on March 23, 2007 by rantsofatwinkieI’ve been really digging the ditty of a tune being used in the current JC Penny ad. Luckily, I am not alone and after Googling on “JC Penny commerial tune” I came across the MySpace page for the group that sings that tune.
"I have a big head… And little arms."
Posted in Uncategorized on March 23, 2007 by rantsofatwinkieThat is from the commercial for Disney’s new cartoon, “Meet the Robinsons” where the evil bad-guy is asking the tyrannosaurus rex why he hasn’t captured the boy. Even if the rest of the movie sucked, I would go see the movie just for that part of the movie.
However, if the rest of the movie continues on that line of humor (which I imagine it does) then I don’t think I will be disappointed.
Warning: Identity Theft
Posted in Uncategorized on March 21, 2007 by rantsofatwinkieThere is an identity theft warning in regards to copy machines. Many copy machines keep the info they copy on an internal hard drive. Most folks don’t know this.
The warning is in high tilt currently because of the tax season being upon us and many folks making copies of their income tax paper work. With many copiers also having internet connections this is of big concern if hackers are able to get their hands on that data.
TV: 3-way tie on Jeopardy – historical moment
Posted in Uncategorized on March 17, 2007 by rantsofatwinkieD and I don’t want Jeopardy much (mainly because it makes me feel like a dullard. haha!) but just happened to watch yesterday’s challenge. Little did we know we would be watching history being made. It was pretty interesting because all three contestants at one point or another were either in negative points or near zero after answering questions incorrectly.
After the final question all three were TIED! So, all three will be back next week.
Jeopardy even has this on their website:
Misc: Michigan Weather
Posted in Uncategorized on March 14, 2007 by rantsofatwinkieIt was 62 deg yesterday and 58 deg the day before here in Ann Arbor, MI.
True to the reputation Michigan has regarding its freaky weather, here is the weather forcast for today. To summarize: snow, sleet, AND the first spring
thunderstorms all in one day, a day after we had 62 deg temps.
Someone just coined this term to describe today’s weather: “thundersnow.”

LOCAL SEVERE WEATHER OUTLOOK
WASHTENAW COUNTY EMERGENCY OPERATIONS CENTER
1045 AM EDT WED MAR 14 2007
A SURFACE COLD FRONT DRAPED ACROSS CENTRAL LOWER MICHIGAN WILL MOVE SLOWLY
ACROSS THE REMAINDER OF THE STATE TODAY AND COULD COMBINE WITH SOME WIND
SHEAR, A PLUME OF MOISTURE, AND PERHAPS JUST ENOUGH SURFACE HEATING TO
GENERATE A FEW STORMS UNTIL THE FRONT MOVES INTO OHIO. BEHIND THE FRONT,
TEMPERATURES WILL FALL DRAMATICALLY AND PUT THE CHANCE OF SNOW AND SLEET BACK IN OUR FORECAST.
SCATTERED THUNDERSTORMS ARE POSSIBLE THIS AFTERNOON AND EVENING WITH 40 MPH WINDS, ONE HALF INCH HAIL AND HEAVY RAINFALL AS THEY MOVE TO THE EAST AT 25 MPH. SEVERE STORMS ARE NOT EXPECTED AT THIS TIME, AND SKYWARN SPOTTER ACTIVATION IS NOT ANTICIPATED.
TV: American Idol – Sanjaya Malakar
Posted in Uncategorized on March 14, 2007 by rantsofatwinkieOkay, I didn’t think Sanjaya Malakar could act and look any more feminine on American Idol. Heck, I thought it was just me until I saw The Soup and The Best Week Ever this past week and both focused on him… and his hula dancing…
Anyways, I am flipping through the channels today and come across American Idol right when Sanjaya finished singing. Guess what? I was wrong. He now has some perm looking thing on his head and hoop earings in both ears. Nuff said.
However, it really wouldn’t be a focus if he could actually sing. I can’t believe he has made it this far in the competition. I have my theory, but I won’t voice it here.
I am a bit glad he did beat Sundance Head, even though Sundance is a much better singer. Why was I glad? Because Sundance has one of the biggest egos I’ve ever seen displayed on TV and I know I personally could not have handled him if he had made it to the final 2, let alone had he won.
His quote of, “If I make it big you can be my bodyguard,” to the guy he beat out in the LA Auditions (who I thought was a better singer and had a way better personality) turned me off on him.
